Frequently Asked Questions

Due to extended measures proclaimed by the Dutch government on 21 April 2020   the sixth edition of the International Cyber Security Summer School will not take place in 2020 but will be rescheduled to August 2021. In doing so, we adhere to the new measures detailing that the ban on events has been extended until 1 September 2020.

Although we are disappointed that ICSSS cannot take place in 2020, we would like to stress that we will always follow the guidelines and measures set by the Dutch national authorities, Municipal Health Services (GGD) and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). The measures are put in place to control the virus as much as possible in order to protect vulnerable groups and societal health in general and therefore have the full support of the ICSSS partners and organisation.

The unique character of the International Cyber Security Summer School provides a format where 60 international students  are educated by high-level experts and professionals in the field on a wide range on (sensitive) cybersecurity related topics and issues. This information sharing is done during an weeklong program in trusted environments where on-site visits of the organisations involved, intensive cooperation on challenges, hands-on exercises and multiple network sessions take place. This specific nature of the summer school, the sometimes sensitive nature of information and the social character of ICSSS cannot be sufficiently organised virtually up to the standards the ICSSS organization and partners adhere to.

ICSSS at a later moment in 2020 (e.g. a Winter edition) has been considered. In different models however, an increase in Covid-19 contamination and therefore government restrictions, is expected in winter 2020 making it unfit to organise ICSSS in that period.

Pre-registering means that you signed up to be informed first when an update on ICSSS is available. It does not entail that you are enrolled for ICSSS. If you have pre-registered for ICSSS 2020 you will be updated on all future developments, also when more information on ICSSS 2021 is available. In that sense, your pre-registration remains valid for 2021. Should you wish to be deleted from this list, please request this via [email protected]

Should the ICSSS partners decide to offer another educational program in 2020, then information will be made available on this website. You will also receive an update if you pre-register here.

Also during the Corona crisis the ICSSS organisation will remain available by email. Feel free to contact us via [email protected] and we will answer your email as soon as possible. We count on your understanding in this exceptional situation and we will keep you updated via our website https://www.summerschoolcybersecurity.org and through our social media channels. In addition, you will be notified by email on all updates on ICSSS you pre-register here.
